5.3 million people have Alzheimer’s
Alzheimer’s is the 7th leading cause of death
“But Drew…Alzheimer’s is an “old persons disease”“
Um, don’t we all get old? I mean, hey…I never used to want to grow old, being old sounded like a hassle. But then I got Cancer. And SURVIVED. Now I want to be old one day. Really old. Like older than the oldest mud. As in, I want to be so freaking old, I want to say “Remember when the iPhone 4 came out? No? Well, those were the days”.
THAT OLD.
And I want to remember my entire life, all of the experiences, all of the people, all of the things I’ve laughed and cried about.
Not sure I’ll be able to do that if I was stricken by Alzheimer’s Disease.
According to ALZ.org, Alzheimer’s is a progressive and fatal brain disease.
As many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s destroys brain cells, causingmemory loss and problems with thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Sound like something you want? Not me. Yet, people have to go through it every single day. Along with their friends and family.
How about we FORGET ALZ? That sounds more like it.
So, last year I started #BlameDrewsCancer – made sense right? Blame Cancer for anything and everything that bothered you. You all got it, embraced it, pushed everything forward, and we raised a ton of awareness and money. It still continues to this day. It’s amazing and awesome.
How about today we #BlameALZ on Twitter? But this time, we Blame it for all of the things we forget or lose.
For example:
I #BlameALZ for forgetting to take out the trash. Ew.
How will that help? Well, we’ll raise awareness like we did with #BlameDrewsCancer. And, we’ll work our magic mojo to find someone to donate money for EVERY person who Blames ALZ for something they’ve forgotten or lost.
How does that sound?
