So we did it.   We got through the 24 hour Blame-A-Thon.  We raised some amazing money for our organization and for our partner LIVESTRONG.

The awesome folks who showed up had a blast.   Our friends at the North Star Bar stood on their heads for us from Noon till Midnight.

It was a rollercoaster.  I decided a few weeks before that I wasn’t going to go to sleep the entire time.   Not because I think I’m a badass, but I wanted to make a point to people.  Cancer is a 24 hour a day battle.  We don’t get to shut it off.  Even when we try to sleep.  That goes for those battling cancer personally, and for their friends, family, and support systems.   We don’t get to shut it down and “nap” on it.

So I didn’t.   And neither did a bunch of the Blame Cancer team.

A week before the event, I realized I had chemo the day before (day of really).  Oh well.  :)

We had seen some great musical acts throughout the day, put together by none other than SchmidtUltra and Peter.  The folks watching the Livestream were loving it.   This was actually going well.

As we reverse our way through the day, you’ll see why I was surprised by this.

Before the night was over, I saw a tweet that both brought me to my knees, and made me want to jump around like a kangaroo.  I had gotten some tweets throughout the night, telling me I should follow some kind folks who might have some good news for #BlameDrewsCancer.  I tried to keep up, while trying to pay attention to everything that was going on around me.

Glad I did. (read more about the frozen pea fund here)

I hopped up on stage with what I had left in the tank to let everyone know.
