My Idea of the Day : Free Virtual Startup Conferences
on June 19th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Everyone loves face to face, it’s fantastic. But, it’s tough to travel, especially if you’re a startup.
When you go to DEMO (2006 alumni with Plug..errr DelveNetworks) or the AlwaysOn conference, or even when you go to the TC50000 (which I believe is earth shattering and awesomesace), you pay out the ears.
At least for TC434234, you don’t have to pay to present, which is why it’s awesomesauce. Buttttt, you still have to travel.
Who is going to come up with the platform for companies to present formally and professionally…but virtually? Ustream?
Give away DEMOgod type awards, but let a pool of people vote online for them, along with an expert panel of judges.
Sure, paying to present isn’t doable for everyone, and I’m not going to get on my personal feelings about it other than I like what Michael and Jason are doing with TC34521. I will say this also…I am a big fan of Chris Shipley for the record.
Virtual and scheduled online events showcasing new startups, new teams of smart minds, and new services for people to try.
What do y’all think?
